The time has come again for ASU's exciting fall Step Show! CCA and the National Pan-hellenic Council are coming together to provide App State students, alumni and the general public for an entertaining night of laughs and camaraderie. This bi-annual step show is the local edition that brings some of App's best step dancers to the stage. Make sure to keep the rest of your night clear, there is an after-party right after the show in celebration of Homecoming 2009!
Please be aware that the Step show is not BYOB. The after-party is a BYOB event.
Tickets go on sale September 22 at the Plemmons Info Desk. Tix are $5 students advance, $7 guests advance, $7 students at the door and $9 for the public at the door.

This week's contra dance is a special one. It will benefit the Appalachian Studies Scholarship program. From 6-8pm, The Laurel Creek String Band will be offering up some tunes for a square dance. At 8pm, there is a Cake Walk where you, yes you, can win a cake! Finally, at 8:30pm, you better be ready to dance as Bob Kogut and The Kruger Brothers throw it down while Connie Carringer and Jesse Edgerton make the calls. Nov. 6th-6pm at Legends: Contra Dance w/ Waltz workshop presented by Appalachian Heritage
It's Contra dance night in Boone! If you were to only go to one contra dance this semester, this would be the one. Appalachian Heritage is bringing two special guests to the dance floor, Warren and Terry Doyle! These two will be making the calls as well as facilitating the Waltz workshop that will take place from 6-7:30pm. Music will be provided by "Hay for 3". Remember to bring your dancin shoes, your ID and a smile.

February 19th/20th-All Day at Plemmons Student Union: Fiddler's Competition
Appalachian Heritage brings you the 2nd annual Appalachian State Fiddler's Convention. Saturday events include competitions in fiddle, banjo, guitar, flat foot dancing, old-time stringband, and folksong including youth and novice categories. Registration for the competitions is from 10am-2pm on Saturday and the competitions take place Saturday from 11am-5pm.
There will be workshops in fiddle, guitar, and banjo throughout the day on Saturday. These workshops will be facilitated by Riley Baugus and The Stewart Brothers.
There will also be a concert by Riley Baugus and The Stewart Brothers Saturday night at 8pm. Admission is $5.
All workshops and competitions are free and open to the public.
